Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mayde Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They secured a 58-53 W over Katy on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Tigers are ranked 53rd).

Katy Taylor's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Mayde Creek, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.

Katy Taylor skirted past Mayde Creek 75-73 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mayde Creek's Christian Gibson, who went 13 of 22 on his way to 40 points and six rebounds.
