Baseball Game Preview: Knoxville Panthers vs. Cardinal Comets

The Knoxville Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinal Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Knoxville put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Newton. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cardinal and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Comets were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Rockets. Considering the Comets have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cardinal has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Knoxville, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

Knoxville suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Cardinal in their previous matchup back in May. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
