Football Game Preview: South Point Pointers vs. Portsmouth Trojans

South Point is 0-10 against Portsmouth since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Pointers will challenge the Trojans at 7:00 p.m.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times South Point and Dawson-Bryant have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Pointers were beaten by the Hornets 44-15.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Redmen 48-7. With the Trojans ahead 34-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Portsmouth, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

South Point was dealt a bruising 41-0 loss at the hands of Portsmouth when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Pointers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
