Football Game Preview: Marysville Monarchs vs. Thomas Worthington CARDINALS

The Marysville Monarchs will venture away from home to square off against the Thomas Worthington CARDINALS at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Marysville is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Olentangy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Monarchs took a blow against the Braves, falling 49-17. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Braves are ranked 19th).

Marysville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of JJ Henry, who rushed for 101 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, and Brady Carper, who rushed for 84 yards and one score on only eight carries. Henry's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Thomas Worthington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Olentangy Berlin, falling 26-6.

Marysville now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Thomas Worthington, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Marysville against Thomas Worthington in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
