Recap: San Marcos Knights vs. Ramona Bulldogs

The San Marcos Knights entered their tilt with the Ramona Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. San Marcos snuck past Ramona with a 66-61 victory on Wednesday. Given San Marcos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Ramona is ranked 688th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Marcos found their leader in underclassman Jalen Williams, who scored 25 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Derek Tuason was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.

Ramona's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colin Dillon, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Newman, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds.

San Marcos is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Ramona, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Marcos will take on Mission Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 550 points over their last eight matchups. As for Ramona, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. Del Norte is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
