Basketball Recap: Pickens Comes Up Short

Pickens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 64-32 defeat at the hands of the Berea Bulldogs. The Blue Flame were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Pickens still got an impressive performance from Gavin Mock, who posted 12 points and four steals. Will Stone also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Pickens' defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Berea, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-9.

Pickens has already played their next game, a 61-39 loss against Daniel on the 23rd. As for Berea, they will square off against Greer at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. The timing is sure in Greer's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Berea has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
