Softball Recap: Leonardtown Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Leonardtown hadn't done well against Calvert recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Raiders walked away with a 7-3 win over the Cavaliers. The victory was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Claire Radford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kendall Wathen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Gray, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Leonardtown's record is now 14-1. As for Calvert, they moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Leonardtown will be playing in front of their home fans against Francis Scott Key at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Calvert, they will take on North Point at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
