Softball Game Preview: Windsor Yellowjackets vs. Springfield Cosmos

The Windsor Yellowjackets are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the Springfield Cosmos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Windsor will be strutting in after a victory while Springfield will be coming in after a loss.

Windsor is headed out to face Springfield after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 23-5 margin over Green Mountain Union last Monday.

Cadence Dougher made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Kleefisch was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Olivia Roberts was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Bellows Falls.

Windsor might still be hurting after the 17-5 loss they got from Springfield when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
