Basketball Game Preview: Franklin County Rebels vs. White County Warriors

The Franklin County Rebels will be taking part in a tournament against the White County Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Franklin County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They managed a 43-39 win over Cumberland County.

Meanwhile, White County had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 70-51. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Wildcats are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

White County's win came from a few key players Franklin County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bella Winningham, who shot 41% from the field on her way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Ava Jones was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 17 points along with five boards and four steals.

White County pushed their record up to 29-3 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Franklin County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-13 record this season.

Franklin County suffered a grim 84-60 defeat to White County in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Franklin County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
