It's playoff time, and Mahomet-Seymour had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Danville Vikings 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-1 last Monday.

Ainsley Whitaker spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mahomet-Seymour let Maddie Logsdon and Madi White run wild. Logsdon went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while White went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Mahomet-Seymour and bumps their season record up to 15-16. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Danville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season.
