Basketball Recap: Tonyah Boggs Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Umatilla

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Dunnellon's strategy against Umatilla on Thursday. The Dunnellon Tigers walked away with a 41-29 win over the Umatilla Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunnellon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tonyah Boggs, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Boggs a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Adriana Soto, who posted 11 points and six steals.

The victory got Dunnellon back to even at 9-9. As for Umatilla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Dunnellon and Trinity Catholic will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. The timing is sure in Dunnellon's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Trinity Catholic has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Umatilla has already played their next contest (against Hope Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
