Basketball Recap: Van Horn Comes Up Short

Van Horn suffered their biggest defeat since January 5th on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 57-29 loss at the hands of the Alpine Bucks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-32 last Tuesday.

Van Horn lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amy Garcia, who posted ten points. That's the most points Garcia has posted since back in December of 2023. Mercedes Sanchez was another key player, putting up seven points.

Hope Dominguez had a dynamite game for Alpine, posting nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Dominguez has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzee De Leon, who had nine points and six boards.

Van Horn's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Alpine, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Van Horn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 25-20 defeat against Trinity on the 6th. As for Alpine, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 20-0 win against New Way Christian Academy on the 6th.
