Basketball Game Preview: L.E.A.D. Academy Lions vs. Destin Sharks

The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions will square off against the Destin Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. L.E.A.D. Academy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 9.

L.E.A.D. Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-56 defeat to Snook Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 748th in Florida, while the Eagles are ranked 258th in Alabama).

Despite the loss, L.E.A.D. Academy got top-tier performance from Andrew Holcomb, who went 9 of 21 en route to 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Palmer, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Destin didn't have quite enough to beat Pace on Thursday and fell 52-49.

Destin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for L.E.A.D. Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

L.E.A.D. Academy was dealt a bruising 78-26 defeat at the hands of Destin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can L.E.A.D. Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
