The Fairview Knights will face off against the Mead Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fairview is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Fairview didn't have quite enough to beat Erie and fell 3-2. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-19 in the first set.
Fairview actually scored more points across those five sets (106-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 19-25, 15-25, 25-22, 28-26, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Mead made easy work of Frederick on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
One reason for the win was Mead's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17, 25-14.
Fairview better focus on containing Alana Costello and Kamdyn Morris as the pair were huge in Mead's win. Costello had nine digs and three aces, while Morris had ten assists and two aces. That's the most aces Costello has posted over her last six matchups.
Mead was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive matches.
Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Mead, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Fairview might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Mead when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other volleyball content.
