Baseball Recap: Chino Valley Takes a Loss

Chino Valley had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 11-7 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Kingman Bulldogs. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this game were averaging 3.61 runs allowed.

As for Kingman, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Kingman's part, Canton Collins was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Collins also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kingman is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Collins was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Cash Collins was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.

Coincidentally, Chino Valley and Kingman will both be playing River Valley the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Dust Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
