Basketball Recap: East Davidson Comes Up Short

East Davidson lost against Salisbury back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Davidson Golden Eagles were dealt a 100-38 defeat at the hands of the Salisbury Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Hornets are ranked 135th).

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tegin Hedrick, who posted 15 points. That was a full 39.5% of East Davidson's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli York, who earned eight points.

East Davidson dropped their record down to 4-16 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Salisbury, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

East Davidson and Trinity will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. East Davidson is facing Trinity at the right time seeing as Trinity is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Salisbury, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Salisbury Hornets face off against the Lexington Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Salisbury's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 matchups.
