Basketball Recap: Aurora West College Prep Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Aurora West College Prep Academy kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. The match between them and the DSST: College View Wolves didn't end well, with the Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans falling 48-32. The Spartans just can't catch a break and have now endured 22 defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maria Gutierrez Benitez, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Flores Duran, who posted ten points along with eight steals and five rebounds.

Da'Naiya Hickey was nothing short of spectacular for DSST: College View: she dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Norma Dominguez was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points and six steals.

Aurora West College Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-18 loss against Lincoln on the 4th. As for DSST: College View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-33 defeat against The Pinnacle on the 10th.
