Softball Recap: Solorio Has No Trouble Against Goode STEM Academy

Solorio was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Goode STEM Academy on Saturday. The Sun Warriors put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 14-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Sun Warriors in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Natalie Pacheco was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, Anahi Valladares was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Fatima Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Solorio lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Solorio's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Goode STEM Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Solorio will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair will be back at it again later today.
