Basketball Recap: Davenport Cox and Derron Lindsey ii secure win for Mays

Basketball Recap: Mays Raiders vs. Chapel Hill Panthers

Even though the Chapel Hill Panthers scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Mays Raiders still came out on top. Mays walked away with a 76-64 victory over the Panthers. For Mays, this counts as revenge for the 75-65 loss the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Leading Mays to victory were Davenport Cox and Derron Lindsey ii. Cox shot 5-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Lindsey ii scored 35 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lindsey ii has scored at least a third of Mays' points. Another player making a difference was Jaqorian Wiggles, who scored four points along with 15 rebounds and five assists.

Mays has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Chapel Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mays won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Midtown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Raiders are ranked 71st). As for Chapel Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
