Volleyball Recap: Gilmour Academy Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Gilmour Academy came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in September of 2022.

Gilmour Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-23, 25-20.

Their offense was headlined by Ava Anders and KJ Williams, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Mira Siebert and her 28 assists. Anders and Williams didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Ursula Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Belle Haas, who had eight digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Penelope Bolinger, who had five digs and four aces.

Gilmour Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3. As for St. Ursula Academy, the victory was the 12th in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Gilmour Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Ursuline Academy on the 30th. As for St. Ursula Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Magnificat on the 30th.
