Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Morgan's Winning Streak

Morgan dropped their record down to 13-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Summit Wildcats. Surprisingly, this marked the Trojans' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lexi Hardman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Peterson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for South Summit, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. 11 seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On South Summit's side, Toshlyn Louder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Malia Olson was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Adeline Aste also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morgan will welcome Stansbury at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Summit, they will be playing at home against Juab at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
