Softball Recap: Lake City Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Lake City had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the University Titans, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Timberwolves of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Layla Gugino was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Brooklyn Caan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake City beat University by a score of 12-4 later that day.
