Volleyball Recap: Camelback Comes Up Short

Camelback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Valley Vista Monsoon. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Monsoon when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Camelback was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Valley Vista's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-22, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Camelback saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Phillip Gonzales had 14 assists and eight digs.

Camelback's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Valley Vista, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Coincidentally, Camelback and Valley Vista will both be playing Browne the next time they take the court. The Monsoon will head out to face the Bruins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Spartans will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
