Baseball Recap: Pattonsburg Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Pattonsburg entered their tilt with North Andrew on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cardinals 13-2. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Camden Griffith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Pattonsburg's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Griffith was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Landon Preston was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Pattonsburg: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Camden Mossburg was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Pattonsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pattonsburg pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for North Andrew, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.
