Softball Recap: Walhalla Comes Up Short

Walhalla had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-11 to make it five. They lost 15-0 to the West-Oak Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Razorbacks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for West-Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For West-Oak's part, Cassie Stoltzfus made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Stoltzfus has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, West-Oak got a massive performance out of Teagan Whitfield, who went 1-for-2 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Whitfield a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abi Blackwell, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Walhalla and West-Oak will both be playing Belton-Honea Path the next time they take the field. The Razorbacks will head out to face the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Warriors will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
