Basketball Recap: Nettleton Comes Up Short

Nettleton lost against Greene County Tech back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Nettleton Raiders were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked fifth).

Greene County Tech was led to victory by Myiah Butler and E'Marriha Johnson. Butler dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Johnson went 7-for-13 to rack up 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Butler is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Bowdler, who posted six points.

Nettleton's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Greene County Tech, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

Looking ahead, Nettleton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Batesville at 6:00 p.m. As for Greene County Tech, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-46 victory against West Memphis on the 17th.
