Softball Recap: Rubidoux Comes Up Short

Rubidoux had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-13 to make it 13. They lost 14-4 to the Patriot Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in March.

Rubidoux saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Julianna Chavez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Patriot, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Patriot's side, they got a massive performance out of Priscilla Quintanar, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Quintanar a new career-high. Sofia Torres was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Rubidoux had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
