Basketball Game Preview: Overland Trailblazers vs. Kent Denver Sun Devils

The Overland Trailblazers will venture away from home to square off against the Kent Denver Sun Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Overland has seven straight victories, Kent Denver has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Overland is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Silver Creek: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Overland blew Silver Creek out of the water with a 69-16 final score. With the Trailblazers ahead 47-5 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Overland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ilaisaane Davis led the charge by going 7 of 8 en route to 18 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Halton, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 17 points along with eight steals and seven boards.

Overland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Kent Denver ended up a good deal behind Green Mountain on Tuesday and lost 49-33. While losing is never fun, the Sun Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Rams are ranked 28th).

Overland's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Kent Denver, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
