Volleyball Recap: Spanish River Triumphs

The Spanish River Sharks were able to grind out a solid victory over the St. Johns Country Day Spartans on Saturday, taking the game 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.

Samantha Walls paced Spanish River's offense, picking up seven kills. Walls got some help from Luna De Oliveira and her 12 assists. Finally, Amelie Fortinho kept Spanish River's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Spanish River's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for St. Johns Country Day, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Looking ahead, St. Johns Country Day will challenge Clay at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish River will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' matchup: after the Spartans face off against Braden River, they'll take on Spanish River again at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
