Baseball Game Preview: Chapin Huskies vs. Cathedral Fighting Irish

The Chapin Huskies will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Cathedral Fighting Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Chapin's tournament run continued when they took on Shallowater two weeks ago. Chapin fell 9-6 to Shallowater.

Jesus Torres made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Cathedral got the win against Tornillo on Monday by a conclusive 14-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Irish.

Chapin has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. Cathedral pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Everything went Chapin's way against Cathedral in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, as Chapin made off with a 14-4 victory. Does Chapin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cathedral turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
