Softball Recap: Seymour's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Seymour dropped their record down to 17-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-1 to the St. Paul Catholic Falcons. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

Seymour got a good showing from Cassidy Marcinczyk, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Marcinczyk has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seymour saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Cunningham, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for St. Paul Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On St. Paul Catholic's side, Lauren Kozlak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, Laila McCulloch was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Isabella McCulloch was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Seymour does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Paul Catholic, they will square off against Woodland Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their 22nd straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
