Football Recap: Downey Piles Up the Points Against JW North

Downey put their dominant defense on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the JW North Huskies 54-0. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won four matches by 27 points or more so far this season.

Madeline Garcia produced another solid performance throwing for 170 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of her passes, and also rushing for 45 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in passer rating (160.4). Another passer making a difference was Adriana Maldonado, who threw for 175 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes.

Downey has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for JW North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Downey and JW North will both be playing Rancho Cucamonga the next time they take the field. The Huskies will head out to face the Cougars at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Vikings will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
