Gulfport and Ocean Springs are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Gulfport Admirals will head out on the road to challenge the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Gulfport is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat St. Martin 42-7. Given the Admirals' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Ocean Springs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 34-14 margin over the Indians. Considering the Greyhounds have won three contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ocean Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sharroid Whitehead out in front who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 80 yards and a touchdown. Whitehead really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Will Smith handled things on the ground, rushing for 168 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Ocean Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biloxi only rushed for 160.

Ocean Springs wouldn't let Biloxi keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Ocean Springs can thank Ricky Orso and Jacolby Bailey for forcing both of them. Orso also set a new season high mark in total tackles with nine. Bryant Ausmer was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Gulfport is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Ocean Springs, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
