Baseball Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils

Sadly, Thornton is still looking for their first win of the season after five matchups. They fell just short of the Fort Lupton Bluedevils by a score of 14-13 on Friday. One positive for Thornton, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Noah Ferreira made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was A.J. Zike, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Thornton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've managed all season.

Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Fort Lupton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Thornton will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Manual at 11:00 a.m. Thornton has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Fort Lupton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against The Academy at 11:30 a.m. Fort Lupton will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
