Weslaco had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 54-6 win over the Edinburg North Cougars. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Chris Luna, who threw for 262 yards and six touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 110 yards and one score on only eight carries. Joseph Leal was another key player, picking up 95 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Weslaco was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Weslaco's record now sits at 5-2. As for Edinburg North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Weslaco has already played their next game, a 44-0 victory against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on the 24th. As for Edinburg North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 48-34 loss against La Joya on the 23rd.
