Softball Recap: Lyons Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Lyons came tearing into Wednesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the East Rochester Bombers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-1 last Thursday.

Keira Weber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison VanLare, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Natalie Bell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Lyons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Lyons pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for East Rochester, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
