Basketball Recap: Beaufort Academy Comes Up Short

Beaufort Academy lost against Thomas Heyward Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Beaufort Academy Eagles fell to the Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels 67-63.

Despite the loss, Beaufort Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jace Paulk went 8-for-10 to rack up 20 points. Paulk also set a new season-high mark in three-point shooting accuracy with 67%. Nycholas Underwood was another key player, going 5-for-7 en route to 10 points.

Even though they lost, Beaufort Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.6.

Beaufort Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.

As of now, neither Beaufort Academy nor Thomas Heyward Academy have any future games scheduled.
