Softball Game Preview: Brownsboro Bears vs. Canton Eagles

Brownsboro hasn't had much luck against Canton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Canton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Brownsboro, who comes in off a win.

While Brownsboro's win against Alba-Golden wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Panthers 4-3. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Taylor Templton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brownsboro's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Arabella Lowrance, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Lowrance has posted since back in April of 2025. Lilly Haldman also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Canton came up short against Centennial on Thursday, falling 13-4.

The victory got Brownsboro back to even at 4-4. As for Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Brownsboro suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Canton when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
