After a string of three wins, John Paul II's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Marion Patriots by a score of 62-60. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 352nd in Texas, while the Patriots are ranked 21st in Arkansas).

John Paul II's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
