It was a good run, but South Beloit unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Earlville Red Raiders by a score of 2-1. The Sobos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, South Beloit sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-17, 22-25, 25-23.

Serena Hoffman paced South Beloit's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hoffman got some help from Macey Lineman and her 20 assists. Finally, Hoffman was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.

Earlville found their leader in sophomore Elizabeth Vazquez, who had 17 digs.

South Beloit's loss dropped their record down to 26-6. As for Earlville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season.

South Beloit will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against North Boone at 7:00 p.m. As for Earlville, they will venture away from home to face off against Hinckley-Big Rock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
