Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Takes a Loss

Trinity Christian played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees, falling 87-59. Even though they lost, the Warriors' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

When it comes to explaining why Trinity Christian lost, don't look at Austin Porta. Despite the final result, he shot 47% from the field en route to 20 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Porta has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddox Mousadis, who earned 11 points.

Clay-Battelle's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Luzader, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 20 boards. The game was Luzader's 19th in a row with at least 19 points. Cooper Payton was another key player, going 12-for-19 on his way to 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Trinity Christian and nudges their season record down to 5-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points over those games. As for Clay-Battelle, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Trinity Christian will face off against Madonna at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian is facing Madonna at the right time seeing as Madonna is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Clay-Battelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
