Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Gilead Indians vs. Fredericktown Freddies

Mt. Gilead is 2-8 against Fredericktown since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Mt. Gilead Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Fredericktown Freddies at 7:00 p.m.

Mt. Gilead lost 70-50 to Ridgemont on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 222nd).

Meanwhile, Fredericktown entered their tilt with Danville last Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They enjoyed a cozy 73-56 win over the Blue Devils.

Fredericktown's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Mt. Gilead, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Mt. Gilead ended up a good deal behind Fredericktown when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 69-53. Can Mt. Gilead avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
