Preview: Weldon Chargers vs. Northampton County Jaguars
Weldon has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Northampton County Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
On Tuesday, Weldon was the victim of a rough 55-35 defeat at the hands of Northwest Halifax.
Meanwhile, Northampton County waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past North Edgecombe 67-36 on the road. Northampton County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 31 points or more this season.
Michaela Hodge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds. Hodge is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlice Tyner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Weldon's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Northampton County, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Weldon came up short against Northampton County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 48-36. Can Weldon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
