Three national high school track records were established over the weekend at opposite ends of the country.

Team members and their splits included Garrett Bradley (1:55.43), Zach Vrhovac (1:50.57), Luke Noble (1:55.34) and anchorman Anthony Kostelac (1:49.33).

Ironically, second-place Morris Hills (Rockaway, N.J.) also bested the national record of 7:32.89 held by Auburn, Wash. Running for the Knights (7:31.60) were Vincent Chiusano, Lucas Clybe, Sean Pohorence and anchorman Liam Tansey (1:50.65).

At the same meet, Morristown, N.J., phenom Nick Vena broke the national sophomore shot put record with a heave of 72 feet, 2.5 inches. The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder also broke the 24-year-old Penn Relays record and the New Jersey state record.

Moving to Colorado, Buena Vista (Colo.) senior Mason Finley smashed the national discus record with a toss of 236 feet, 6 inches at the High Altitude Challenge in Alamosa. The previous record was 234-4 by Niklas Arrhenius of Mountain View (Orem, Utah).

The 6-foot-8, 300-pounder, who has signed with UCLA, then headed for his senior prom.
