Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Tigers vs. Sarcoxie Bears

The Lamar Tigers will challenge the Sarcoxie Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Lamar's victory against Monett wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cubs 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, Sarcoxie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Sarcoxie, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.

Lamar came out on top in a nail-biter against Sarcoxie in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
