Basketball Recap: Highlands Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cristo Rey last Friday, Highlands Christian came back down to earth. The Highlands Christian Knights took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Carroll Catholic Rams on Monday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Highlands Christian lost, don't look at Angel Scomparin. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points. The game was Scomparin's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Aydin Crawford was another key player, putting up ten points.

Brandon James had an outrageously good game for John Carroll Catholic as he went 6 for 11 en route to 20 points and five assists. James is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Joaquin Ruiz, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Highlands Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for John Carroll Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Highlands Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-60 loss against Jupiter Christian on the 21st. John Carroll Catholic has also already played their next contest, a 44-32 defeat against Jensen Beach on the 21st.
