Baseball Game Preview: Jackson County Generals vs. Perry County Central Commodores

The Jackson County Generals will challenge the Perry County Central Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Jackson County was able to grind out a solid victory over Clay County, taking the game 10-5.

Meanwhile, Perry County Central came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.

Sheldon Ritchie made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Dylan Elkins was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Devin Gayhart was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Perry County Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buckhorn struck out nine times.

Perry County Central's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Jackson County, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Jackson County beat Perry County Central 11-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Commodores turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
