Softball Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Adams City Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thornton). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Adams City Eagles 13-12. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in September.
Mya Grady made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off 15 hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mia Gray was incredible, going 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Villalpando, who went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Thornton didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adams City only tossed six.
