Basketball Recap: Boulder Takes a Loss

Boulder's last matchup with Horizon could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. The Panthers were dealt a 75-45 loss at the hands of the Hawks. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Boulder lost, don't look at Lake Smith. Despite the final result, he posted 23 points and five assists. Smith continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Owen Lutt also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

It was another big night for Noah Sokolowski, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 13 boards for Horizon. Those 30 points gave Sokolowski a new career-high. Boaz Wisne was another key player, going 7-for-13 on his way to 15 points.

Boulder's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Horizon, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Boulder wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-59 defeat against Prairie View on the 12th. As for Horizon, they have also already played their next game, a 67-51 win against Fairview on the 12th.
