Basketball Recap: Mariner Takes a Loss

Mariner played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 57-11 defeat at the hands of the Estero Wildcats. The match marked the Tritons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Amiya Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Estero, going 9 of 17 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least a third of Estero's points. The team also got some help courtesy of London Woods, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Mariner dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Estero, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Mariner won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fort Myers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mariner is facing Fort Myers at the right time seeing as Fort Myers is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Estero, they will venture away from home to square off against Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
